ChallengeScape is an outdoor adventure program in southwestern Wisconsin. It provides students in Juneau county with exciting adventures they most likely would not otherwise experience. In addition to activities like canoeing, rappelling and orienteering, the students learn valuable skills such as outdoor first aid and problem solving. Team building exercises encourage both elevated self esteem and socialization.

 

ChallengeScape was founded in 2007 as a summer school offering in the Mauston Public School district and has grown from there and has now expanded into the school district of New Lisbon. Since its beginning it has been coordinated by Rusty D. Shankle, a former professional whitewater rafting guide with 1100+ trips to his credit. He also teaches 8th grade social studies at Olson Middle School in Mauston. Numerous volunteers devote countless hours to helping make this life-changing program possible.
